On Friday, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka urged senators from Maa community to shoot down the law, insisting that it would discriminate minority communities in terms of leading the country.

“I want to urge Ole Ndiema (Trans Nzoia), Peter Mositet (Kajiado) and Stephen Ntutu (Narok) to think twice and vote against the election laws,” he said.

Same sentiments were echoed by Kakamega senator Bonny Khalwale who urged Maa senators to stand and be counted at the time of need.

“These laws would pave way for rigging. They are also discriminative in terms of allowing other communities to lead. The Maa leaders should stand with us in the Senate,” he said.

Should the amendments require voting in the Senate, Jubilee team would have a slight advantage after Turkana senator John Munyes ditched Ford Kenya for the Jubilee Party.
