The electoral body announced Tuesday that the number of valid signatures supporting the initiative fell short of the required one million registered voters.

“The analysis of data presented by the Okoa Kenya popular initiative has shown that the number of valid registered voters supporting the initiative is 891, 598. This falls short of the one million registered voters required by law,” IEBC Chairman Issack Hassan said.

Cord last year October submitted 1.4 million signatures to IEBC for verification.
