Wanga said Kenyans will not allow to be taken for a ride and won't stand to watch the August polls rigged in favour of Jubilee.

According to the proposed laws which, have already been approved by Parliament and the Senate, the IEBC, during the August polls will be allowed to use the manual method in identifying voters.

The opposition, is, however, against this as it says the method may be used to rig the elections by inflating the voters' register.

"With the Senate ignoring public views and voting for these retrogressive Election Laws amendments, mass action is now inevitable," Wanga posted on her official Facebook account on January 5.

"The people will exercise their constitutional power directly."

Cord had earlier on marked January 4, as the day for kicking off the protests but postponed them after Senate Speaker Ekwe Ethuro set January 5, as the day for debating the proposed laws.

Opposition chief Raila Odinga, who is out of the country is expected to chair a crucial meeting to chart a way forward after the passage of the laws he is opposed to.
