A local chief in Kisii County has challenged all co-operative societies' officials mentioned in relation to corruption to step aside to allow for investigations into the allegations levelled against them.

Nyang'iti location Senior Chief John Ogega Rasugu reminded the co-operative officials to take cue from the government and public officers who were recently asked by President Uhuru Kenyatta to step aside to allow for investigations noting that the move will help fast tract investigation process.

Speaking at Nyamonya Main Co-operative Society during the farmers' Special General Meeting, Rasugu reminded all the co-operative societies' leaders in the area that the Government will not condone any public officer using his position and office to steal from the public coffers.

“The writing is on the wall and any co-operative society leader in this sub-county who is linked to corruption allegations should step aside immediately to allow investigations,” he said.

Rasugu, however, asked farmers to keep off politics to ensure there is peace in the co-operative institutions in the area.

He tipped local coffee farmers on the importance of running the venture as business to ensure they reap good returns from their investment in coffee farming.
