This follows the recent report by the ad hoc committee to take action against some county top officials involved in irregular hiring of 180 county staff and mismanagement of Sh261 million.

The protesters called for a stern action against county secretary Joseph Motari and Public Service Board (PSB) head Philip Sigei who have been adversely mentioned in the hiring saga that has rocked the county.

The protesters who marched to the governor’s office cited corruption and nepotism as major plagues that have been tainting the image of the county as well as its boss Kinuthia Mbugua.

“We want Motari to pack and go. Every time you ask to see him, his right men at the gate always turn you down. The issue of the money that has been misappropriated from the bursary kitty and other public funds should be addressed. Our governor is a good man but some of is men up there are tainting his image,” Salome Cherop, a protester said.

Led by People’s Accountability Forum Simon ole Nasieku, they also called on the governor to rid the county of poor leadership in a bid to foster accountability and transparency in administration.

“The county governor should be on the fore front to advocate for accountability lest he will be viewed as conniving with the corrupt in his government. Let him take action against them including the 180 staff workers and give Nakuru County a chance to be served by those who legally deserve the positions,” Nasieku said.
