He said corrupt police officers who are tasked to fight illicit liquor are easily compromised with a few coins by those involved in the business.

"It's sad that the police mandated to fight the vice have failed in their duty, instead of arresting those involved in the illegal business, they hide them," he said.

Speaking at the county government headquarters on Wednesday, Rono said every time they plan to raid illicit liquor dens, those involved escape after being tipped off that the police are coming for them.

"I urge the national government through the Ministry of Interior to take stern action against police officers who are liaising with those involved in the sale and preparation of illegal liquor," he said.

He said, if stern action will not be taken against such police officers, the fight against the illegal liquor will be impossible.
