The residents of Kisii will have to dig deeper into their pockets for water as the cost of water is set to more than double.
This is thanks to proposed new tariffs which are expected to take effect soon.
The new tariffs will increase the cost from sh33 to sh74 per 1000 LITRES.
A household that was paying sh500 for 15,000 litres of water will now pay around sh 1200 in accordance with the proposed new tariffs.
Authorities say that the spike in the cost of water has been occasioned by an increase in operational expenses.
The Water Services Regulatory Board said that the new tariffs will take effect on December 31.
