President Uhuru Kenyatta has been faulted for recycling political rejects through cabinet appointments.

COTU (K) Deputy Secretary-General Benson Okwaro says the president ought to have appointed technocrats and not politicians.Okwaro says most of those who were appointed into the cabinet were rejected by the people after they failed to transform their lives.He wondered what magic will work for them to spur economic growth of the country in the positions they have been nominated to.Speaking in Kisumu, Okwaro says the legacy of the president is bound to be eroded if the cabinet nominees are approved.He told Kenyans to give President Kenyatta time to work whether he was elected fairly or unfairly.Okwaro called upon the legislators to conduct a thorough vetting of the cabinet nominees so that the best can be allowed into the administration.He lamented at the creation of new positions noting that wage bill is currently high and bringing more personnel on board will only hurt the economy of the country.The president created the position of Chief Administrative Secretary in each ministry.Ababu Namwamba, who lost his Budalangi parliamentary seat in the August elections, was appointed CAS Ministry of Foreign Affairs.Rachel Shebesh will join Cabinet, if the name is approved by Parliament, as Youth CAS.Shebesh lost her Nairobi Woman Representative seat in the general elections.
