The Central Organisation of Trade Union (Cotu) failed to show up at the funeral of Kabete MP George Muchai based on an intelligence reports.
Cotu board member Francis Wangara says they were warned not to attend the burial since there was a plan to heckle the team.
Wangara said the plan was also to ensure they were not allowed to attend the burial.
“The intelligence report made us to make a retreat but we were determined to go and see the resting place of our leader,” said Wangara.
He said Cotu was keen to give a befitting send off to their former colleague who was one time deputy secretary general to Francis Atwoli.
Wangara said their attempt earlier to send a team to be part of the funeral committee was rejected.
Addressing a press conference in Kisumu, Wangara said names of Cotu officials have been maligned in regard to the death of the former trade unionist.
He said Cotu has directed their legal team to move to court and seek redress in regard to the accusations.
“We are moving to court to bring this matter to a halt, our name cannot be maligned,” he said.
