Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba has hinted at vying for the presidency in 2022.
Speaking on Tuesday in Kimaeti, the Labour Party of Kenya Leader saId he would front himself for the top seat should the Luhya Community have no presidential hopeful in 2022.
He is set to seek re-election for MP in 2017.
He reiterated that his Labour Party of Kenya would not field any presidential candidate during the forthcoming general elections, saying the move is aimed at cementing the party's grassroot political base.
“This year our party is not having a presidential candidate but I am sure in 2022 we will have one person on the ballot. For now, we are focused on popularising the party to make it stronger for the next elections,” he noted.
He further challenged Amani National Congress Leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya's Moses Wetangula not to relent in their push to be named NASA Presidential candidate.
The two Luhya leaders are eyeing the presidency on the Opposition ticket.
