Deputy President William Ruto could cost President Uhuru Kenyatta a re-election win during the August polls, Meru Governor Peter Munya has cautioned.
Speaking on Monday, the Council of Governors Chair observed that Ruto is only concerned of his 2022 presidential ambitions, warning that such political miscalculations would affect negatively President Kenyatta's reelection bid.
"Number two has been doing all sorts of machinations to cut us to size but he is going to be defeated," he stated.
The outspoken governor further accused the Deputy President of failing Jubilee Party and the general running of the government.
"He has failed the JP party. And in matters of running the government, let the public judge," Munya said.
He maintained that he would be vying for the presidency during the 2022 general elections, adding that he is ready to face Ruto.
“Some of us are unstoppable. In fact, I will vie in 2022 for the top seat on PNU," he noted.
