With the opposition chiefs disclosing that their Nasa negotiations were progressing wonderfully, Jubilee's man man Aden Duale is a worried lot given the fact that the talks could lead to a much stronger coalition between Abdi Yare and his biggest rival Farah Maalim.
If the deal lives to see the light of the day, Duale's political career could ht a dead end, meaning he will be out of the public limelight for the next five years.
However, this will be subject to condition that Maalim loses in the party primaries if at all the talks reach a better end.
Similarly, Duale's survival at the helm of regional politics could record a massive boost if Maalim loses during the primaries, since it is more easy to battle an entrant than a seasoned politician of Maalim's caliber.
Being one of the most vocal Jubilee supporters from the region, it is apparent that the ruling government will explore all its available mechanism to guarantee a win for the incumbent.
It will be a double tragedy for Uhuru's government to lose the seat, since it will be considered a massive boost for the opposition which is gaining more support from the Garissa electorate.
And because politics is a game of numbers, the last minute rush for votes will determine the overall winner in the Township politics.
What will, however, remain constant is the fact that there should be a winner and a loser in the game.
