Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka could be after all in good terms with Raila Odinga despite reports linking him with a defection to Jubilee Party, a source within the Jubilee Party has revealed.
The MP has been a fierce critic of Governor James Ongwae and Raila Odinga and has been seen in many public functions with DP William Ruto.
But according to the source, Onyonka is no longer valued among the proponents of Gusii Unity, a team led by Senator Chris Obure which is closely associated with Jubilee Party.
“I want to assure you we no longer value him as one of us. All those in Jubilee have come to know his antics of wretching us from within and thanks to God we realised earlier before it got worse,” said the source that declined to be named.
“He is in contact with Governor James Ongwae despite disowning him during day time. Whatever plans we discuss, we always realise that Ongwae knows everything and this is making our work difficult,” added the source.
However, on a phone call, Onyonka dismissed the claims as ‘petty and primitive’ insisting that he had decamped to Jubilee party.
“My relationship with ODM and Ongwae is in public domain. I never interact with them and I decamped to Jubilee. Those are petty and primitive claims,” he said.
The Gusii Unity team has already backed Mr Obure, a former ally of Odinga for the Kisii County gubernatorial seat where he will wrestle with Ongwae.
