Probably, gauging one's political stength before throwing his weight behind them is one of NASA leader RaIla Odinga's biggest political asset. And in Migori Women Representative Pamela Odhiambo, the former Prime Minister has confirmed that she is a master in politics.
Before making a huge plunge into politics, Dr. Odhiambo had spent much of her career life as a university lecturer. But when she left Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology to give politics a try, little did she know she would trounce the incumbent Denitah Ghati in the race for the ODM ticket.
Sensing defeat, Ghati called for initiated democracy considering that the county is cosmopolitan. But the Raila-led party was keen on nominations where the winner flys the party party flag. And from there, Ghati's fate was sealed after a heavy defeat at the hands of the newcomer. The seat was hers to lose.
During the August 8 poll, Dr.Odhiambo was overwhelmingly elected after garnering 194, 536 votes as her political career kicked off in style. And the tough-talking former University don could become a political nightmare to her future challengers.
With her brand of politics which seems to have caught the attention of NASA leader who is seemingly her political admirer, is Dr. Odhiambo the next 'iron lady' of Migori and Nyanza region? The way she plays her cards in future will be the key determinant.
