Kisii County Women Representative Mary Otara has accused nominated Senator Janet Ong'era of hatching a plan to rig her out in the Orange Democratic Movement Party primaries.
Speaking to the Star Newspaper on Friday, Otara exuded confidence that she would beat Ong'era in the primaries should the exercise be free and fair.
“I am aware that Ong’era has been scheming to rig the nominations. I want to tell her that I am ready to face her in free, fair and transparent primaries any time. Janet cannot defeat me,” she said.
“She is not a party official but has been going round the county masquerading as a top party official to the chagrin of other members. She is doing a lot of damage to the party,” she warned.
Ong'era, who was previously contemplating vying for the senatorial seat has since returned ODM nomination papers for the women representative seat.
Last week, Party leader Raila Odinga while on a voter registration sensitisation exercise in the Coast region pledged free and fair party primaries.
