Governor Anyang' Nyong'o on behalf of the County Government of Kisumu on Thursday signed an MOU with Victoria Development Company for the construction of level 7 Victoria Hospital and Cancer Centre.

This collaborative initiative that will be built on Public Private Partnership arrangement and whose discussions have been ongoing for a while now is expected to commence in about 3 months and completed within 2 years.

The 250-bed hospital will comprise of General Medicine, Renal Unit, a Cardio center; a funeral parlor, a doctors' plaza, a nursing school, and a five-star hotel.

Once it starts operating, the facility will lighten the load for other public hospitals which are always flooded with passengers.

Improvement of medical services is one of Nyong'o's top agendas in his first term as Kisumu Governor. If he successfully implements the project, it will be one of his main legacies for the people of Kisumu and Kenyans at large.

VIDCO, composed of various professionals from the Lake Region by their chair Dr. Joseph Aluoch, the Vice chair and project coordinator Prof. Vincent Orinda, the Legal Advisor Mr. Ambrose Rachier and the project designer Eng. Jerry Ndong.

The Governor was accompanied by the County Secretary Dr. Onudi Olang'o, Dr. Rosemary Obara the health CEC, the Chief of Staff Mr Patrick Ouya, the Finance CEC Mr Nerry Achar amongst other officers.
