Following the closure of Uchumi supermarkets in Kisii, Taj Mall, Nakuru and Eldoret, residents in those areas are worried as to why the company has shut down.
The shut down has left many jobless despite the many years the company has been in operation compared to other supermarket companies countrywide.
On Monday morning, workers at the Uchumi supermarket in Eldoret were shocked after Uchumi supermarket closed down one of the two branches owned by Uchumi in Eldoret.
According to the sources, workers we not given any form of notice to the closure of the supermarket until Monday morning when they woke up early for the day’s work only to find that the supermarket closed down indefinitely. This comes days after is it was reported that the Uchumi Company is facing financial problems.
Will this symbol of bankrupt? Despite the Uchumi Company being in operation for many years, it has closed its branches countrywide of what is termed to be bankrupt as shoppers who love doing shopping from the supermarket are left worried and workers left jobless.
