The council of elders Mombasa County have requested the national government to help put up a hospital for elderly persons in the county.
Speaking during a press briefing with media at their offices in Mombasa, Chairperson Council of elders Mombasa County Mohammed Jahazi, said the hospital will help them sought their health matters.
“We appreciate all the efforts the government has made in providing healthcare in the country, however they should also consider putting up a hospital for elderly persons,” said Mohammed.
The elders also thanked both the national government and the county government for improving the operational conditions of Coast general; the only referral hospital in the region.
On matters concerning hate speech in the county, the elders called upon leaders not to encourage divisive politics that will bring conflict.
“Politicians should closely look at what they said, this is the time to build our nation not to divide people and put the lives of Kenyans in danger,” said Bishop Joseph Maisha; vice chairperson council of elders in the county.
The Mombasa County Council of elders was established in March 2014 as a community-based organisation, so as to provide counsel and guidance in the county.
