Kikuyu elders under the Rift Valley Council of Elders now want the disbursement of cash transfer to old persons suspended over alleged corruption.
The senior citizens have accused administration officers and some government social officers of demanding bribes from the elderly in order to register them for the programme.
''We have reports implicating administration officers who are retaining some cash as a service charge of 10 per cent which is totally unacceptable. We expect the Deputy President William Ruto to address this issue over the weekend when he comes to Nakuru,” said the council spokesman Gilbert Kabage.
They also urged the Deputy President to consult widely with local Leaders in order to get firsthand information on issues affecting Nakuru residents.
Among other issues the elders want addressed are corruption in both county and national government and also probe of county government procurement processes.
