The Council of Governors (CoG) has denied snubbing the swearing-in ceremony of Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga.

Former deputy governor Kahiga takes over the position following the death of Wahome Gakuru.

According to reports, not one of the 46 governors attended that ceremony thus raising several question as to why they failed to attend.

"The council was invited to the ceremony on Sunday evening. However, due to the short timing of the ceremony, the council registered its apologises," says CoG director of communication Andrew Teyie as reported by The Star.

"We urge all to stick to the issue at hand as the council lays to rest one of its members."

Chairman Josepht Nanok (Nanok) added that he was taking care of official duty thus forcing him to miss out on the ceremony.

"Nanok is out of the country on official duty but has congratulated his brother Kahiga. The CoG fully supports Kahiga and is wholly involved in planning Gakuru's funeral planning," he said.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen. Kirinyaga Deputy Governor Peter Ndambiri are among the few dignitaries who joined the newly appointed Nyeri Governor in prayer following the swearing-in.
