Speaking at Kenyatta National Hospital President Uhuru Kenyatta has called on nurses to end their nationwide strike.
According to reports the strike has seen more than 20,000 nurses strike as of June 5th this year.
Despite efforts from the government it seems neither party as been able to come to a consensus with the nurses wanting a salary increment and the government wanting the nurses to return to work.
There seems to be failed attempts to hold dialogue between both parties.
The Council of Governors initially came to an agreement with the nurses party but now it seems that their are many details yet to be worked out.
According to a letter dated August 22 addressed to Secretary-General of the Kenya National Union of Nurses Seth Panyako, the council stated that the nurses were required to return to work and undergo job review.“The council is committed to work with the team that was constituted and agreed in the meeting that was held on August 21. The job description exercise is scheduled to begin immediately the strike has been called off,” reads the letter signed by Chief Executive Officer Jacqueline Mogeni as reported by the Daily Nation.
