Are you a living or having relatives in Kiambu or Mombasa County? A survey has shown that people living in these counties are more likely to be attacked b robbers or buglers.
A recent report by the Kenya Integrated Household Budget Survey (KIHBS) has put Kimabu in the lead with 22.7 per cent of its respondents listing robberies as the first severe shock they experienced in 2016.
The 2015/2016 report put Mombasa County in the second place with 20.5 per cent of their residents registering having experienced similar ordeals.Nairobi County, mostly perceived as the unsafe and home to organized criminal groups, came third with a distant 10.9 per cent of respondents pointing to attacks by gangs and muggers.
However, at the national level succession and inheritance battles topped the list of what troubles Kenyans followed by land disputes at 26.2 per cent and 16.3 per cent respectively. Not strange though rarely spoken about, in the third place was tribulations arising from religious or witchcraft affiliated matters at 14.1 per cent.
Bomet (62.5 per cent), Nyamira (47.1 per cent), Turkana (45.5 per cent) and Kisii -42.7 per cent Counties reported the most land disputes and worries while high levels of households with commercial disputes were captured in Nyamira at 32.6 per cent and Homa Bay at 26.2 per cent.Muranga and Siaya Counties in the report register high admissions related to crime having 10.3 and 10.1 per cent in that order.
As stands in the report, many Kenyans may not be willing to seek resolutions in matters conflict as households that had grievances on corruption (44.6 per cent), disputes of commercial nature (40.5%), political disagreements (39.7 per cent) and religious/witchcraft offences (39.6 per cent) opted to sit on their pressing issues.
