Eldoret Catholic Diocese Bishop Cornelius Korir has urged both the national and county governments to get intensify in the fight against corruption by arresting and prosecuting suspects.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday in his office, Korir said that corruption has been the order of the day in the two governments with responsible officers failing to initiate action suspects.

"Corruption is a menace that needs to be fought by all leaders in the national and county governments since it has largely derailed development," he said.

Korir said that those found culpable of stealing public funds should be arrested and brought to book to act as an example to those with similar behaviour.

"I urge the leaders of national and county governments not to apply double standards as it has recently been witnessed in the national government while tackling corruption but instead should be honest," he said.

He added that Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) should be given more power to arrest and prosecute corrupt individuals without interference.
