The Ministry of Lands is in the process of digitising the lands registry at a cost of 17 billion shillings; a reform that will boost the revenue for counties if the move is successfully completed.

These reforms are expressly designed to shepherd the registry into the 21st century.

''With a digital database we will secure land documents with specific features hard to forge at a cost of 17 billion shillings.'' Prof. Kaimenyi, lands CS, said.

Nairobi County has benefited immensely from the reforms that have seen property record soar from 170,000 to over 230,000 ahead of the completion of the process.

This means that there will be extra rates generated which can then be used for development.
