Kenya could easily join the league of failed nations if the ongoing leadership wrangles won't be resolved immediately, former Lagdera MP Farah Maalim has said.

Speaking to Citizen TV on Friday, the former national assembly deputy speaker appealed to president Uhuru Kenyatta to back down from his hardline position and reach out to Nasa leader Raila Odinga so that the current political impasse can be resolved.

"Kenya could soon join the ranks of failed States if this current crisis can prolong just a little longer. Sadly our leaders are the ones who have chosen to take it to that route. My special message goes to president Uhuru Kenyatta, please back down from your tough position and negotiate with Raila," he said.

Farah who is also the Wiper party deputy party leader challenged the country's national assembly to rise above partisan politics and focus on issues that will serve the common good of the country.
