Speaking during a function at Sagana Getaway resort in Kirinyaga County, MYWO National Chairperson Rahab Mwikali, said the organisation will support President Uhuru Kenyatta in the coming elections because his administration has championed women empowerment.

"Jubilee government has shown interests in women leadership by appointing a good number of women to Cabinet Secretaries’ positions. These women have since helped in developing the country," she said.

Mwikali lauded the President for campaigning and supporting Foreign Affairs CS Amina Mohamed’s bid to become the African Union Commission chairman.

She noted that women have in the past been left out of leadership but lauded the Jubilee government for the efforts.

Mwikali urged women to register as voters in large numbers and mobilise their families to enlist during the ongoing mass voter registration exercise.

MYWO boasts a nationwide network of over four million individual members and 25,000 affiliate groups. It was established to implement programmes designed to improve services to women and the larger community.
