Following the lack of water in Kisii county, now residents have accused Governor James Ongwae of contracting unqualified service providers whom they claimed have tampered with water resources worsening the shortage.
According to residents who spoke to this writer, the governor gave contracts to fake contractors who embezzled funds meant to preserve water catchment areas hence worsening the conditions of water supply points which have been sufficient over the years.
Led by Rigena Civil Society chairman Thomson Osoro they said although there is a drought mismanagement fund the problem was way bigger than that.
Among the areas affected are Nyanchwa, Nyabururu, Riokindo and Mageto among others.
However, Governor Ongwae has said that his government has set measures to curb the situation.
