The County government of Mombasa, led by Magogoni Ward Administrator Amar Jumaan and Kisauni Sub County Inspectorate Deputy Divisional Commander Ali Kibwana on Tuesday embarked on random inspections of various septic tanks of homes.
This followed a weekend tragedy, where six people mostly children, died after a soak pit they were standing on, collapsed on them while at a wedding in Tua Tugawe, Mishomoroni on Saturday.
The tour saw landlords with deplorable soak pits issued with warnings to speedily repair them.
The County has also formed a multi-departmental committee comprising of officers from the Departments of Land, Planning and Housing; Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works; Inspectorate; Sub County Administration and Public Health to conduct inspections of all soak pits and latrines in all Sub-counties as well as address issues they come across.
