The county government of Uasin Gishu is set to review 50 percent of bar licenses in the county as one way of regulating the industry and generation rid of second-generation alcohol.
Speaking in Eldoret, the director alcoholic licensing board Silas Boit said the outcome will be made public for the residents to make their review too.
Boit said the move is geared towards instilling sanity and getting rid of illicit brew in the area.
"We will begin reviewing the licenses of bars to ensure no illicit brew is sold to the locals," he said.
Last year, the Board stepped up efforts to ensure illicit liquor from neighboring Uganda does not find it says into the county's market.
Boit said they have enhanced their surveillance, especially on vehicles and lorries that transit to and from Uganda.
