Sh 26 million has been set aside by the Uasin Gishu county government to construct poly-techniques, county education executive Enock Mugei has disclosed.

Speaking to journalists at his office in Eldoret yesterday, the education executive said the government will establish modern polytechnic in every ward.

He said that they have partnered with the public sector to ensure constructions are done immediately.

“We have a plan in place to establish modern poly-techniques in bid to make education accessible to Kenyans,” he said.

The executive said the move will further improve education standards to enable many students who miss university entry point access university education.

On the same note, Mugei said the county has put aside adequate bursary funds to cater for needy students.

He asked needy but bright students from the county to apply for the funds in order to further their education.

The official intimated that the county takes seriously education and will implement policies that will boost performance.

He urged teachers in the county to remain committed and impart knowledge and skills to students.
