The Kiambu County government has set aside Sh54 million to improve infrastructure in all polytechnics in the county, Governor William Kabogo has said.

Kabogo said that plans were underway to revamp infrastructure in all polytechnics.

Kabogo said that renovation will start soon adding that all projects will be completed before the end of 2016.

“We have injected Sh54 million into all polytechnics across Kiambu and the money will be used on infrastructure especially class rooms and laboratories and also buy equipment,” he said when he officially opened the Pettans College in Kiambu town on Friday last week.

Kabogo said the move is meant to ensure that standards of education are promoted.

He also stated that the move aims at encouraging vocational training.

The governor observed that thousands of students who fail to make it to university are enrolled in the polytechnics.

Kabogo stated that education will be improved if both governments support the porgrammes.

Kabogo asked students who fail to get placement in public and private universities to enroll in polytechnics.

He said that such students stand a chance to get hand on skills that are needed in the job market and also for self employment.
