A county enforcement officer was on Saturday allegedly attacked by hawkers while he was on his way home at pioneer estate.
The injured county askari who is currently admitted to the Mediheal Hospital in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County says that he identified his attackers as hawkers known to him.
The police have begun the hunt for the suspects.
This comes two weeks after six people were injured in Eldoret during a confrontation between the askaris and the hawkers.
Three of the injured persons had gunshot wounds after the county askaris tried to evict hawkers from Eldoret streets.
The county government of Uasin Gishu mobilised the askaris to evict hawkers from the streets leading to protests and court injunctions.
The Kikuyu council of elders on Saturday urged the hawkers to use the designated markets to carry out their business and obey the county.
“Every house has its own rules, and the house of Uasin Gishu is no different. We have our own policies and laws which should be obeyed by every citizen. Please use the designated area where you can sell your products, not in the streets,” said Mr. Paul Kimani the regional coordinator of Kikuyu council of elders.
