Boda boda operators in Kisii town have expressed displeasure over unfair handling by county ‘Askaris’.
In an exclusive interview with a section of the operators on Wednesday, they said some of their colleagues were being allowed to operate from restricted areas in the CBD.
"The county government restricted us from passing through some of the roads in CBD, but it's shocking that some of us carry out business in the areas because the ‘Askaris’ are nepotists and corrupt," said Obiri.
Obiri said the officers were unjust when handling some issues with the operators.
They claimed that their keys were forcefully taken until they bribed them.
"I have once been treated violently by the ‘Askaris’ yet my friends whom they knew was left free of charge," said an operator who requested anonymity.
"Unless you bribe them, you may find yourself in court with false allegations," he said.
Efforts to seek a response from ‘Askaris’ in Mashauri over the allegations proved futile after they refused to give out any information.
