KTN Cameraman Gideon Kangogo who was arrested by Uasin Gishu county enforcement officers for taking their photos while harassing traders in Eldoret town on December 15, 2017, [Photo: Gideon Kangogo]Uasin Gishu county enforcement officers on Friday arrested an Eldoret based journalist whom they accused of photographing them using his phone without permission.The county askaris pounded on the Journalist, Gideon Kangogo, a Cameraman with KTN, and threw him into a vehicle which drove to the county headquarters where he was locked.His phone was taken away and the photos deleted."I saw the county Askari's dragging a man and a woman on the road and I being a journalist I decided to take photos of that action. My actions didn't go down well with the officers who came arrested me. They deleted all the photos of that incident from my phone," Kangogo told journalists at the county headquarters in Eldoret tow.Tens of Eldoret based journalists camped at the county court cells where their colleague had been locked demanding for his immediate release.The enforcement officers finally bowed to pressure and he was later released."This is not the first time a journalist in Eldoret is being harassed for doing his work and this trend is worrying yet we do our things openly and professionally," noted one of the Eldoret based journalist.
