Speaking in Thika on Tuesday, Gicheru said that no county government worker will be allowed to dent the county's image.

"I am calling upon members of the public who may have been unfairly targeted by the county askaris to file formal complaints with my office so that we can take necessary disciplinary measures against those involved," said Gicheru.

The officer, however, called on residents to adhere to county by-laws to avoid creating a leeway for the county askaris to harass them.

"It is necessary that we all adhere to county by-laws to avoid rubbing shoulders with the askaris. For instance, apply for a license if you intend to start a business," he added.

Gicheru also called on those putting up constructions to go for approvals at their sub-county headquarters saying that some have not been doing so creating an avenue for the askaris to intervene where they end up harassing them and confiscating their construction materials.

Hawkers, tuk tuk drivers and bodaboda riders have on many occasions witnessed the askaris brutality especially in Thika town streets.
