Kisii county government has been called upon to increase funds set aside for the orphans so that those living in children’s home can get a quality education and support them.
According to a Kisii based youths group known as Youths for Development, most of the children’s living in orphanages do not have enough funds that can cater for their needs and above all fund their education which remains basic.
Led by their Chairperson Eric Kenani when they visited a Kisii based children's home on on Wednesday the youth group added that the county government in the past has been delaying channeling funds to most of the Children’s home hence risking the lives of the children associated with them.
“We have been in many children’s home and we have seen the situation is not good at all, there is a need for the county government to increase funds that will help them,” he added.
The group, however, blamed the county government for failing to help the orphans and instead channeling the funds to other organisations that are not in need of the funds.
