Speaking at Njoro town on Thursday, the youth leader said that most local people are defecating in the open – a situation he said poses a health danger. He said it is important for residents to be sensitised on the need of having toilets.

“I want to ask the sub-county administration to spearhead construction of toilets in this area,” he said.

He urged the county public health department to move with haste and address the matter before it is too late.

At the same time, Karanja challenged youth in the sub-county to work together and promote development. He said unity would propel the sub-county into greater heights in terms of development.

The youth leader further asked youths to apply for Uwezo funds and start small ventures that will improve their lives. He said cases of unemployment will be reduced if young people take advantage of the development funds being given by the government.

Karanja also called on area MP Joseph Kiuna to initiate projects that will spur development and reduce high poverty levels and unemployment.
