Kiambu County Government has been told to focus on real issues such as poverty and unemployment facing locals.
Speaking at Kiambu town on Monday, area MP Jude Njomo said that the county has to put in place a clear strategy that will help address the problems.
The lawmaker observed that poverty remains a major issue facing many households.
“The Kiambu government must draw a plan on how it intends to fight key issues facing our people,” he said.
The MP noted that many households in the county go without food and major basic items.
He said the county has a responsibility to ensure that no resident goes hungry or lacks basic amenities.
The lawmaker noted that the idea of devolving services was meant to ensure that locals have access to services.
Njomo pledged to continue fighting for the rights and welfare of residents adding that leaders must be accountable to the people.
He observed that locals have been given the power by the constitution to recall or remove from office leaders who fail to work.
Njomo on the same note appealed for unity of Kiambu leaders which he stated is critical for any development to be achieved.
