The Nakuru county government has been urged to upgrade the underutilised Molo stadium to enable more youth showcase their talent and skills in sport.
Molo youths centre chairman Peter Mucheru said this will help avert the youth from crime and disruptive teenage behaviour.
Mucheru said Molo stadium has not received the service of a caterpillar grader, or a lawn mower despite the allocation and approval of Sh50 million by the defunct Molo town council in the 2011/12 financial year towards the renovation of the sports ground.
He said local soccer teams and athletes were training the tough way adding that even though the stadium was on a good site, it lacks essential facilitates.
Mucheru expressed optimism that once the stadium undergoes a complete overhaul and be recognised national some of the premier league matches will find their way to Molo stadium which is second best after Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.
He added that the county will increase its revenues once the stadium is given a facelift and recognised by the Kenya Premier league (KPL)
Meanwhile, Nakuru County governor Kinuthia Mbugua has said his government is committed to help youths nurture their untapped talent.
Addressing bodaboda riders at Keringet Township, Kuresoi South, the governor urged youths to remain focused in life and avoid alcohol. He said Kenyan athletes were pushing the country sports status a notch higher calling on youth to brace themselves for all types of jobs to earn an honest living.
