Uasin Gishu County government has been urged to increase money allocated for youth driven sacco’s.

Uasin Gishu County Youth Bunge Sacco Society Chairman Sammy Kipturgut Mukienei said the current allocation is a drop in the ocean.

“We want more funds to be channeled to youth driven Sacco’s for more youths to benefit. This will create employment opportunities since they will start their own businesses,” he said in Eldoret town, Tuesday.

He, however, called upon county governments to publicise through print and broadcast media the loans they offer for more youths to have abreast on the money meant for Sacco’s.

“They should also fund training, saving and capacity building to youth funded Sacco’s for them to know how to use the funds they have been loaned,” he added.

Mukienei challenged youths to join Sacco’s  since they are crucial in bringing youths together to share progressive ideas and improve their livelihoods.

“By forming cooperatives they can apply for loans without security and one can get ideas on how to improve their livelihoods,” advised Mukienei.
