Speaking in Nakuru town, Njuguna said that the county has adequate natural resources that can be used to propel development.

He asked the county to put in place marketing strategies aimed at selling the county to the rest of the world as a tour centre.

“I want to ask the county government to put in place measures that will boost tourism,” he said.

The chairman further said that there is need for infrastructure improvement, especially roads. He observed that some roads in the county are in poor state and needs repair.

The chamber chairman complained of frequent traffic snarl-ups that are often experienced along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway, especially at the Gilgil weighbridge, saying there is an urgent need to expand the road.

He said that billions of shillings are being lost as a result of traffic jams.

Njuguna said that the traffic snarl-ups can be addressed through expansion of the road and use of other alternative transport means.

He also asked the county to ensure security of residents and tourists ahead of the Christmas season, saying that most of Kenyans would be touring the county.
