A row is brewing between the county assembly of Nakuru and Nakuru West Constituency with a section of assembly staff and MCAs accusing constituency staff of occupying county space.
In a rare turn of events on Monday, the constituency staff were barred from accessing their offices on condition that the county must find an alternative for them.
According to a majority of MCAs, it was the responsibility of the county government, area MP and sub-county leadership to source for space to ensure workers work efficiently rather than imposing themselves at the county assembly offices.
“We are an independent arm of government and should be left to operate independently, we are not forcing anybody out of here, it’s the law which must be followed,” noted Shabab MCA Kamau Githengi.
He further revealed that decongesting is hindering service delivery at the facility arguing that there must be more that meets the eye in the fiasco.
“A whole sub-county cannot say that they cannot secure office space for their staff, something fishy is going on somewhere within the ranks,” he said.
He questioned the reason behind the workers declining to move to the Gido Plaza where sub-county official offices have been allocated saying that they got to explain why they had ignored a notice ordering them out after their term expired.
