Kisumu County Assembly members before start of the session on Thursday.
Kisumu County Assembly has constituted an 11 member ad hoc committee to investigate Kisumu Public Service Board with an aim of sending its members home.
The board has a constitutional six years stay in office.
The Assembly Majority Leader, Kenneth Onyango moved a motion on Thursday to debate the disbandment of the Board.
Onyango said the Board had failed in its mandate to discharge its duties professionally.
He said the Board as it is currently constituted does not reflect regional balance, gender and persons of interest.
“Mr Speaker sir, we need to have a new Board in place, what we currently have is not properly constituted,” he said.
While moving the motion, Onyango noted that for Governor Anyang Nyong’o to fulfill his manifesto he has to reconstitute the Board.
The Board is accused of employing 14 chief officers two years ago despite advertising for 10 slots which were approved by the Assembly during the vetting process.
The Committee has 21 days to investigate the Board and report back the findings to the Assembly.
However, some MCAs were against the motion accusing the executive of using the Assembly to fight their wars.
Kanyagwala MCA Pete Oiko said the county must first look into the financial implications before sending the Board members home.
“Mr Speaker, I don’t buy this idea of sending the Board home, it is witch hunting which should not be entertained,” he said.
