County Assembly members from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday endorsed the new Minority Leader Maurice Ondiek who was sworn in to replace Ombeyi Ward representative John Auko.
Mr Ondiek is set to sit in the County Assembly Public Service Board whose members were charged in court but have now been cleared by the Court of Appeal to resume their positions.
He said he will work with Speaker Ann Adul to ensure the affairs of the Assembly run smoothly but stated that, the unity and good working relationship will not stop him as the leader of the minority, to oversight the executive.
“There has been concern that we have gone in bed with the executive, this is not the case and i will do my best to rally members in the house to oversight both the executive and the assembly as well,” said Ondiek.
He urged his counterparts to focus on development and not unnecessary wrangling among themselves.
The Assembly Minority Whip Edwine Anayo said they will work with the assembly’s leadership irrespective of the party.
Mr Auko confirmed that in deed the decision was made by all the party members and the PDP leader Omingo Magara is well aware of the same.
“There were rumors that I will go to court to contest the party’s decision, these are all lies because we have resolved to work together,” he said.
