Members of Nakuru County Assembly have threatened to expose their colleagues who are involved in corruption
Led by the Mosop Ward member George Mwaura, the seven members of county assembly (MCAs) said they would mobilise other members to move a censorship motion against corrupt ward representatives.
Speaking to HiviSasa.com at a Nakuru hotel on Friday, the members said they were perturbed by the way a section of their colleagues especially those who seat in various house committee were handling public resources.
They also stated that some wards were receiving a row deal in the allocation of ward development resources as required by the law.
“We are not going to seat back and watch our colleagues break the law by misusing public resources. We will move a censorship motion and mobilise other members to support it,” said Mwaura.
The MCAs said there were many scandals involving a section of county assembly members involving the allocation of Ward Development Fund and the Ward Education Bursary Fund among other issues.
The lawmakers also alleged that some of their colleagues solicit for goodies and extort money from local investors using their positions.
Other members present during the briefing include Newton Wauthi (Lare), Samuel Tonui (Nessuit), Vitalis Okelo (Kivumbini), Jane Ngugi (Gilgil), Leah Serem (Keringet) and Lucy Nyambura (Menengai West).
