As a measure of safety for taxis and passengers, Cheptiret/Kipchamo MCA Gilbert Tenai proposed the use of identical colors for all taxis.

"The motion is meant to introduce safety to passengers and guarantee taxi operators smooth operations by introducing identical colors. A taxi driver from my ward was recently murdered by unknown people. We are also concerned of their working areas," said Tenai.

The vocal MCA also proposed the installation of CCTV cameras that will also bolster security as another safety measures.

"As we look forward to enjoying the city status, it is prudent to organize the sector as we come up with plans to set up CCTV to boost security. At the moment, anyone can park their car and pretend to be in the taxi business, making it dangerous for passengers," he added.

Another MCA, Sarah Malel while supporting the motion reiterated the need to improve security since the county might have many investors in future who could be forced to use taxis as means of transport hence the need to guarantee their security.

"Our region is expanding and we will soon be receiving many investors who would want to make use of our taxis. We want to assure them of their safety," she said.
