Uasin Gishu County Assembly has passed a motion that will see it apply for the membership of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.
Assembly's leader of majority Josphat Lowoi moved the motion which he said would help better the legislation skills of the MCA's.
"If we become members of the Association, it will provide a benchmark avenue to familiarize with what other Assembly's in the Commonwealth countries conduct their house business," noted Lowoi who is also the Karina/Mibeki MCA.
Nominated MCA Rehema Korir seconded the motion noting that being members of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association would go a long way towards enhancing good governance at the Assembly.
"This organization was started to support good governance, democracy and human rights and it will be for the benefit of the Mwananchi for this assembly to also be a member," noted Korir.
The motion received overwhelming support from the MCA's present.
"By being members of this Association, we will have an opportunity as an assembly to benefit from programs geared towards enhancing efficiency and services in terms of enactment of policies and legislation that will subsequently benefit our people," noted Tembelio MCA Pius Kigen.
