The County Assembly of Nyamira has constituted a six-member committee that will investigate ongoing unprecedented insecurity incidents in the region and report to the House in a month’s time.
The region has experienced a series on crime cases, with the most recent seeing three people murdered in cold blood, precipitating sharp reactions from a number of county leaders.,
On Thursday, Speaker Joash Nyamoko said the team will unearth the truth behind the incidents and table its findings for implementation.
“We are the legislative arm of the county and this is where people’s interests are presented. This committee will be necessary because we must make the county safe by unearthing the truth behind the series of killings,” he said.
“The committee has experienced and judgmental members who will help us solve this matter once and for all. We are tired of seeing people dying aimlessly yet we have security personnel paid by the government to protect citizens,” he added.
Committee chairman Mr Beuttah Omanga (Bogichora ward), urged residents to cooperate with the committee by sharing critical information which will guide the team to come up with tangible findings.
”As the chair Mr Speaker, I want to urge Nyamira residents to work closely with us so that we find the best way we can solve this matter. We must collaborate for the sake of bringing sanity to our county,” he said.
Kemera ward MCA James Mating’a on his part called upon the resignation of County Commissioner Josephine Onunga accusing her of incompetency.
