Kisii county assembly has been called upon to speed up the process of implementing development Bills.
Speaking when he visited schools in his ward yesterday evening, Bassi Central ward representative Henry Moracha said that he is going to spearhead a fast motion movement so that they can rush with time.
He, however, lauded the cooperation between the assembly and the executive saying it has enabled the county leadership to achieve much in terms of legislation and development.
Moracha said the good working relations saw the 2015/2016 budget initial process benefit after the executive and the ward representatives jointly conducted public participation which would help in the production of the county strategy paper.
He called on members of the assembly to acquaint themselves with the constitution to be able to effectively conduct their legislation and oversight roles.
Moracha urged his colleagues at the county assembly to fast track the passing of bills before it especially the Kisii county education and enterprise fund which are aimed at creating a bursary kitty for the needy and self employment for the youth.
“Eight Bills are pending before the county assembly though many are undergoing public participation process and we believe we will pass them,” he added.
He also underscored the need to focus on the development of road infrastructure which he said is key to economic growth as sectors like tourism, marketing of goods, mineral and energy exploitation, agriculture and industrialisation ride on it.
