In the arrangement, Nyamira becomes the 10th devolved unit to receive 30 computers with the Uninterrupted Power Supply machines and 10 scanners.

Governor John Nyagarama said Tuesday some of the equipment will go to the county's ICT resource centre while others will be distributed to the four sub-counties.

Nyagarama said the equipment will help boost his administration's efforts in making ICT services accessible to residents.

“The entire globe is embracing ICT and these computers will benefit students, county staff, as well as the community in general in accessing services like internet and video conferencing,” Nyagarama said at the county headquarters.

The county boss directed his officers to ensure the infrastructure is installed as soon as possible so that it benefits residents.

The Authority’s officer in charge of the county Gloria Hamati said this was one of the efforts being made by the national government to ensure digital literacy access to the grassroots.

“Nyamira becomes the 10th county to receive the computers and we hope this will help in ICT penetration to rural areas. The programme is being rolled out to other counties,” Hamati said.

Nyagarama also flagged off tools and equipment worth Sh5 million which were purchased by his administration to various polytechnics.

“The tools and equipment will help learners get practical skills which are key in the job market,” Nyagarama said.
